Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate "SDE 2 - Data Platform" to join our team and play a key role in building a robust and user-friendly self-serve data platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software components that empower our analytics and business users with easy access to data insights. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that directly contribute to data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core components of the self-serve data platform, including data pipelines, data quality checks, and user interfaces.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Collaborate effectively with data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and optimise system performance.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team.
- Stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends in data engineering and data platform development.
Qualifications
- 3-6 years of professional experience in software development.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Excellent coding skills in Java/Go/Node/Python.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Experience with data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Contribution to OSS is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
